This year’s Defence Simulation, Education and Training (DSET) conference once again put serious games firmly in the spotlight, with the Serious Games Showcase and Challenge Europe (SGSCE) showcasing some of the innovative games from across industry,
government and academia.
Taking top honours this year was Firehawk, developed by Tarkus. As SGSCE winner, Firehawk now advances as an automatic finalist entry to the Serious Games Showcase and Challenge at I/ITSEC in Orlando later this year — carrying the UK and European serious games community’s flag onto one of the largest stages in the modelling, simulation and training world.
Reflecting on this year’s competition, Tess Butler, CEO of Ruddy Nice and DSET, said: “Seeing the progress of The Serious Games Showcase and Challenge Europe – the standards keep getting higher every year, along with the traction and understanding of the power of Serious Games across Industry and Defence. We can’t wait for SGSCE 2027 to deliver even more. Congratulations to all of the winners.”
With SGSCE’s standing now firmly established as a feeder into the global SGS&C at I/ITSEC, this year’s result is another marker of how far serious games have come — and a sign of even more to come at DSET 2027.
