Game Overview

Professor Hanson asked our team to create a game that would teach students about the Siege of Jerusalem in a way to get students excited and engaged about the history. To solve this, we created a game where students could walk around and explore Jerusalem while learning about the history from characters in the game representing real historical figures. Students will learn about the importance of the temple, the geographical features surrounding the city of Jerusalem, the historical events leading up to the siege and how the Israelites defended themselves during the siege in the first portion of the game as they talk to the people in the city. During the second portion of the game, students will infiltrate a Roman camp and learn about the historical events leading up to the Siege on the Roman side, as well as the battle strategies they employed against Jerusalem.

Our players are challenged to find a way to stop the Siege of Jerusalem and change the course of history by learning about the Siege and infiltrating the Roman camp. Players must prove to the Israelites that they are up to the task by learning their side of history before they send them to the Romans to learn their plans and ultimately reason with their leader to stop the Siege.

Our target audience is undergraduate students at the University of Central Florida who are taking courses in Judaic Studies. Typical ages of students for this course range from 18-26 years old.

Upon completion of the game the professor can be certain that players have met all the learning objectives for the module. Instead of having a test, the completion of the game itself is proof that the students have learned the objectives since it is impossible to complete the game without doing so.
