Release Year:

You are the animal citizens of Earth. There is an ongoing climate change invasion and it’s worsening. F0SS1L FU3LS, a mech-monster, is deeply affecting your community. You’ve been called together to learn, discuss, and create a recommendation for the government. Players will go through the process of a citizens assembly as they are gathered by an organizer, learn about solutions from a climate change expert, discuss said solutions by answering icebreaker questions, and piece together a recommendation through a word game. The R-ECOMECH is assembled from each player’s drawn parts, based on the solution they come up with. After assembling the robot, players get to choose from a variety of fighting moves and come up with a combination to defeat the F0SS1L FU3LS boss.

Game Overview

The game educates on different aspects of citizen assemblies and a little bit about eco-friendly types of energy.
Aspects of Citizen Assemblies — and how R-ECOMECH incorporates it:
– Diverse citizens representing a population brought together by an organizer — Players choose different animal citizens of unique backgrounds and meet the organizer NPC.
– Citizens learn from experts on the subject — Players learn about eco-friendly types of energy from an expert NPC.
– Equitable collaboration where everyone contributes to a recommendation — The game encourages collaboration and compromise as players answer silly and serious questions and form a recommendation sentence based on these previous answers.
– The recommendation is brought back to the lawmakers that requested the assembly to act on — The city government that sponsored the game’s assembly provide the budget for the creation of the mech. The mech is created by the players drawing each aspect of the mech before the mech gets to fight the F0SS1L FU3Ls monster.

The players must learn, collaborate, ideate, and draw an eco-friendly mech that can take the fight to climate change.

Young adults and older interested in the power of collaboration and democracy.

The open-ended nature of drawing a mech makes quantifying the player’s performance impossible. Our hope is that experiencing the power of citizens’ assemblies first hand and providing a summary and call to action at the end impacts them.
