The First Person Cultural Trainer (FPCT) is a 3D interactive training simulation which teaches the values and norms of a specific culture in order to facilitate intelligence missions.  Through four-levels of immersive gameplay, FPCT allows Army leaders and other appropriate personnel to practice culturally correct ways of interacting with different populations around the world.  The game features a variety of innovations, like a branching conversation system and methods for displaying nonverbal communication and environmental perception.

Game Overview

Players learn and practice culturally correct ways of interacting with different populations around the world.

Players are inserted into rural, semirural, and urban settings within Iraq and Afghanistan where the goals are to explore the social and political settings through conversation, establish themselves within the area, provide humanitarian aid, and eventually use the social status established to gather information about Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and the IED network.

Army leaders and other appropriate personnel.

By completing the assigned goals, communicating well with the populace, and discovering and documenting important information, the player will advance through the game and ultimately receive a grade for that level. The player can then move on to a different environment level.
