Eagle Eye is a fielded US Army training game that leverages an expansive and immersive 3D urban environment. This application provides the Army’s latest reconnaissance and security tactics to the RQ-7B Shadow Platform. The game puts the player in control of an Unmanned Aircraft supporting a Brigade Combat Team using their critical decision making skills. As players progress through the game they will be trained through intense real world situations. The game challenges the player through three levels of gameplay. The player is scored and prompted on their achievements during all learning events. The After Action Review (AAR) provides access to refresher training that reinforces the instructional tactics required to perform your mission.

Game Overview

Learning is measured during random operational scenarios that are linked into an over-arching storyline. Each operation contains immersive scenarios that reflect the IMI training. After each operation is completed a detailed AAR is compiled and presented to the learner so that deficiencies can be highlighted and more attention focused on those areas.

The goal is to reinforce training in the area of UAS reconnaissance and security operations. The player is challenged to complete three operations that allow them to aid ground forces to over-come a dynamic and formidable foe (Codename Cochise) within an immersive 3D virtual environment. The player will be presented with random and simultaneous events, all while completing the assigned mission. This will enforce player comprehension of reconnaissance and security operations, all while honing their decision making skills. Each operation focuses on either reconnaissance, security, or a mixture of both.
During the game the operator will face tasks in:

  • Route Reconnaissance
  • Area Reconnaissance
  • Zone Reconnaissance
  • Area Security Missions
  • Cordon and Search
  • Convoy/Patrol Security
  • Recognition of Combat Vehicles (ROC-V)

The training application was developed for current RQ-7B Shadow operators seeking to maintain or improve proficiency within their field, as well as soldiers who are training to be UAS operators. The game can also be used to provide cooperating forces with a perspective of UAS operators’ roles and responsibilities—all in an effort to seamlessly perform together as a team in the sphere of interoperability.

The game is equipped with a dynamic and pervasive achievement system that factors all aspects of the operation as the player leverages his knowledge of the IMI. The game will also display real-time feedback during game play via audio cues and the heads up display (HUD) with positive and negative scoring indicators.
