Answer Campus allows the player to experience a life as a college student living on campus through a series of conversations that explore stereotypes and microaggressions around identity markers such as race, gender, sexuality, ableism, etc. When presented with a challenging scenario, the player is able to respond and choose from a variety of actions such as being supportive, diplomatic, combative, or disengaged.

As the player interacts with other characters in the game, they will have the opportunity to strengthen friendships and explore different paths. The purpose of the game is to allow the player to explore challenging scenarios in a variety of ways, and enable the player to translate learnings from playing through the scenarios and into real life.

Answer Campus is designed to teach a variety of skills and ideas, focusing on critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and social awareness. Players are encouraged to analyze situations, consider multiple perspectives, and make decisions based on careful thought rather than impulse. By placing players in diverse scenarios involving characters with different backgrounds and viewpoints, the game fosters empathy and helps players understand experiences different from their own. The game encourages effective communication through dialogue choices, teaching players how to express their thoughts clearly and considerately. Each ending has an in game achievement associated with it that allows us to track how the game is being played. While the game is not tied to a specific study, it is being developed to use within a research framework through event logging and tracking specific conversation choices and outcomes.
