Wings-101

Organization:

Blueflame Digital Ltd

Release Year:

Through fun games you will learn how to recognise flight patterns visually, and also the terminology and communication commands commonly used in air force units, on the ground as well as the air. Through short bursts, the more you play the more you learn.

Game Overview

We entered this game into the Serious Games Showcase & Challenge Europe 2024 where we were fortunate to win.
The same version is being entered here for evaluation. By the time of the event we may include some additional levels and tidy some art work.

Progress through the levels as they get harder. Each level progression you will learn a new element, these build up the more you learn. Some levels you need to reach a set score or play against the clock. After successfully completing learning sections, you will unlock more sections.

Our primary audience is a new recruit to an air force or a pilot new to flight formations, and it’s assumed they have zero knowledge. All the learning material is unclassified. It’s important to have a solid foundation in the basic knowledge, it needs to be instant muscle memory. New learners can play the game to get a head start or reinforce what they are learning in their day to day.

The player is introduced to new learning points a bit at a time. They are then prompted to remember what they have learned through selecting what they think is the correct answer. This could be selecting a visual or text. Feedback is given to the player instantly so they know if they have got it correct or wrong. Later rounds will throw at a player learning content from earlier rounds to ensure they demonstrate they have retained the earlier information.
At the end of each round, the player will need to either reach a score threshold or beat a timer. If they have not reached the threshold, they can not progress and must repeat the round, (or go back to the menu and select an earlier round). The player can only progress by learning, so by getting further through the game demonstrates how much you are learning. The learning content is grouped into categories so that we know when a player has reached different stages of learning.

The game is in the early stages of proving the learning concept, we have bigger plans on where to take it next.
Even though the core content is aimed at the air forces, there will be commonality with civilian pilots and ground control industries.
We weren’t 100% which category to choose for the target audience as it’s not just air forces, so we selected General. If that’s not correct, please adjust.
